Who knew lemon oil was so versatile? Here are just a few ways you can use this amazing oil to brighten up your home, health, beauty and more!

FOR THE HOME

DISINFECTANT :

Soak your dishcloth or sponge overnight in a bowl of 1-2 cups of water and a few drops of lemon oil.

BRIGHTEN WOOD FURNITURE :

To prevent wood from drying out, dulling and to give that piece of furniture a shiny finishing touch, add a little lemon oil with olive oil to a non-toxic finisher.

HOMEMADE BLEACH DISINFECTANT SURFACES :

: Add to a dark spray bottle. The mixture will last approximately 2 months – 2 cups 3% solution hydrogen peroxide, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 cups water, 15 drop lemon oil.

KILL ODER :

Place a 3-4 drops of lemon on a couple of cotton balls and place near the odor.

MINIMIZE OXIDATION AND INCREASE FRUIT’S SHELF LIFE:

Combine 1cup water and 20 drops of lemon oil in a sprit bottle, sprit water with lemon oil onto fruits.

SPOT FREE DISHES :

Next time you load up the dishwasher, add a few drops of lemon oil. Those spots will not appear.

CARPET CLEANING :

Mix baking soda and lemon oil. Sprinkle all over the carpet. Let it sit for one hour then vacuum.

SMELLY LAUNDRY:

Have you’ve smelled a bit of odor when leaving your wet clothes in the laundry for a little too long? Add 5-10 drops of lemon oil onto a fabric sheet or cloth then throw the wet clothes into the dryer. Presto! Smells eliminated.

DEGREASER :

If you’ve ever scrubbed the pan with soap and water alone, then you know it doesn’t seem to work. Adding a few drops of lemon oil to soap will speed up the process.

WATER SPOTS :

Lemon oil. Yes, that’s pretty much it. Put a few drops of lemon oil on cloth and wipe the water spots away.

PROTECT LEATHER :

Whether it’s a leather couch or leather jacket, all you need to do to protect it is a mixture of equal parts vinegar, equal parts extra virgin olive oil and 1 drop of lemon oil (per every tablespoon of equal parts vinegar and extra virgin olive oil). Clean the leather with the mixture. Leather should look a bit wet. After approximately 10 minutes, use a soft cloth to dry and buff away. This is a great way to protect and maintain leather from splitting.

DETER SPIDERS AND MICE :

Add a few drops of peppermint onto a cotton ball and put it in around the entry areas.

REMOVE GUNK :

Gum, oil, glue, crayon, and adhesive can be removed from most surfaces with lemon oil.

BEAUTY

HAND SCRUB :

Whether you were in the garden, eating finger foods or working on the car, this hand scrub will clean the junk off your hands and leave it smelling delicious. All you need – A 12oz jar to fill the ingredients and the ingredients, which are – 1 cup sugar, ½ cup castile soap, 5-10 drops lemon oil.

BRIGHTER SKIN: :

Very easy homemade scrub. Combine ½ cup of oatmeal,1/2 cup of water and 3-5 drops of lemon oil. The mixture should be a somewhat wet and rough consistency.

HIGHLIGHT HAIR:

A neat trick! As a kid, we would spray water and lemon oil onto our hair to add a little bit of highlight. The lemon oil combined with the sunlight, lighten our hair.

SKIN CARE MASK:

Dull skin? Add 3-5 drops of lemon oil with 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Leave on the skin for 15 minutes then scrub the mixture for 1 minute on the skin and rinse off. Skin sensitivity may vary so if it starts to sting rinse it off right away with cool water.

HEALTH:

RESPIRTORY ISSUES:

A diffuser is a great way to disburse essential oil into the air. Add some lemon oil to help alleviate the wheezing, coughing and nasal congestion.

SOAR THROAT:

Boil a stock of lemongrass in hot 1 quart of water. Then add honey to your liking of sweetness level (honey is great for relieving sore throat so more doesn’t hurt). Then add a few drops on lemon oil. Drink warm.

COLD SORE:

Dap some lemon oil on that sucker and watch it ease up.

HAND SANITIZER:

Grab yourself a 4oz spray bottle. Add 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel, 10 drops of vitamin E, 10 drops of lemon oil, 10 drops of lavender oil and 10 drops of melaleuca oil. If you don’t have melaleuca oil just substitute by adding 5 more drops of lemon oil and 5 more drops of lavender. Lastly, add water to fill up the rest of the bottle. Mix of course.

HEALING SALVE:

Bumps, Bruises? Mix this – 1 tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of grape seed oil, 1 tablespoon of Vitamin E, 5 drops tea tree oil, 5 drops lavender oil, 5 drops lemon oil, 2 tablespoons bee wax. To melt, combine carrier oils (grape seed, coconut oil) and bee wax into a jar. Put the jar in a warm bath and stir with a butter knife for a few minutes or until the bee wax is slightly melted. Then add the essential oils and vitamin E. Let it cool before applying.

NAIL FUNGUS:

Add a drop of lemon oil directly onto the source rub it in and under the nail. Rub it all around. Do this a few times a day for a few days. If the lemon oil irritates your skin, use carrier oil to dilute.

OTHER

BAD BREATHE:

Easy. Add a drop of lemon oil and peppermint oil. Your friend’s will thank you.

UPLIFT YOUR ENERGY:

A drop of peppermint oil and lemon oil in a cup of water is a quick way to booth your energy.

LEMON TASTE TO YOUR MEAL:

a drop of lemon to any entrée in enough to alter your dish. One drop goes a long way since lemon essential oil is highly concentrated.

FEEL GOOD:

Add a couple drops of lemon oil into a diffuser. The trick is that it smells so good that it’s hard to have a grumpy face.

SCENTED PLAYDOUGH:

1 cup of all- purpose flour, ½ cup of salt, 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (any cooking oil will do), food coloring and 10 drops of lemon oil. Mix ingredients together until there’s play dough like consistency (similar to cookie dough). Store in an airtight container or zip-lock bag to keep the play dough lasting.

LOTION BAR:

It’s lotion but solid. Great as a gift or for personal use. Just mix until melted with these ingredients into a double boiler on medium heat: ¾ cup unrefined coconut oil, ¾ cup beeswax and ¾ cup cocoa butter. Once the mixture has cooled a bit, add 4 teaspoons vitamin E oil and 20 drops of lemon oil. Pour the mixture into a silicone mold. Put it in the fridge to harden. Once it’s hardened, you’ve got your lotion bar ready to use. Use it like you would use lotion. They melt a bit when you touch them. Rub it onto your skin to moisturize.

BATH BOMBS:

Enhance the bathtub experience! Mix dry ingredients – 1-cup baking soda, ½ cup starch. Mix wet ingredients – ½ cup lemon juice or citric acid, 2 teaspoons unrefined coconut oil, 5 drops lavender, 5 drops lemon oil. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Pack mixture into an ice cube tray/plastic mold or silicone mold (the goal is to shape the bath bombs). Once the mixture is hardened, they are ready to use. Fill up that bath with water and drop these bath bombs. You skin will feel softer.
